Study in China

The Center offers West Virginia University students the opportunity to directly experience Chinese culture and business practices by traveling and studying in China. This is a unique study abroad opportunity partially funded by a grant from the Chinese alumni of the Center's municipal government training programs such as Minsheng Bank in Beijing, Baoshan Steel Group, Shanghai Post in Shanghai, and the Municipal Finance Bureau in Tianjin.

WVU students and professors conduct market research on China. They identify opportunities for exporting and develop a market entry strategy. Students and faculty work closely together. Students gain from the hands-on experience of a real-life project, and work with Chinese alumni who provide guidance and introductions in China.

Participants spend three weeks on the campus of West Virginia University learning about the history, culture, language, and business environment in China and working on their export project. They travel to China for 14 days of classes, briefings, company visits, and introductions with their counterparts in China. After returning from China, students and faculty spend a week analyzing results and preparing a final report.
